Healthy Weight Gain
The amount of weight you should gain during your pregnancy is based on how much you weighed before you became pregnant. If your pre-pregnancy weight was:
- Underweight: 28-40 pounds
- Normal: 25-35 pounds
- Overweight: 15-25 pounds
- Obese: 11-20 pounds
Even if you are overweight you should NOT try to lose weight during your pregnancy. Talk to your doctor or registered dietitian about how you can manage your pregnancy weight gain.
